Reflections on Colombia
As part of our Discover Tour and following a longer visit to nearby Ecuador, we enjoyed a long weekend in Bogota, May 10-15, 2023, and used it as a staging and continental jumping off point on our way to Egypt. How could we only visit the capital city and skip Medillin and the playgrounds of the northern coast?! It wasn’t easy. But it was very easy to enjoy Bogota. We chose a great hotel and easily filled all the tourist hours we wanted to allocate to finding interesting sights and good restaurants.
Everywhere in Bogota there are fantastic art murals painted by truly gifted artists. It’s a world-class culture of music and art. The city is beautiful and we saw it from the narrow streets near our hotel, in La Candelaria neighborhood, to the heights of the Teleferico y Funicular Monserrate. Fun weekend with repeated delights just around the corner. It an affordable destination that could draw us back. And we made a very dear friend later in Buenos Aires, a long-time resident there, who is originally from Colombia. With this close connection, we’d be guided towards an even an even more satisfying second visit!
Below the selection of some of the fun street murals we saw, find the hotel listing in Colombia where we stayed. There’s a carousel of hotel pics and a carousel of activities pics.
