Casa Andina Premium Puno - Puno, Lake Titicaca

We were here October 15-19, 2023 in a suite with a lake view for $156/night including breakfast. (Not including 10% tourist tax.) We took the wonderful all-day full-service tourist train from Cusco to Lake Titicaca (see video below hotel and activities carousels below) arriving just after dark at our hotel. What a memorable day! We rested the next day and enjoyed the long pier in front of the hotel to walk down to the water’s edge of the lake. The next day we took a boat tour of a couple of the islands. Our last full day we went to the archeological ruins of nearby Sillustani. Casa Andina Premium Cusco - Cusco

We were here October 11-15, 2023 in a suite for $165/night. We didn’t rush our Cusco time but did manage to miss a couple of the important sites including Qorikancha, only a few minutes from our hotel! We also missed the Q’enco Archaeological Complex. We did make it to Saqsaywaman and Museo de Arte Precolombino. At 13,000 feet above sea level we found ourselves gasping for air occasionally, sometimes in the middle of the night while sleeping. We do pretty well at high elevations but we were happy to get back to sea level at the conclusion of our visit. Friendly people and a couple of great meals including at the excellent Jonas restaurant.

Sol Natura Hotel - Ollantaytambo

We intended to be here October 6-9, 2023 in a deluxe king room for $76/night including breakfast. We had some difficulty flying into the nearby Cusco airport. Our first flight attempt was cancelled due to a mechanical issue with the plane. The second day was cancelled due to bad weather in Cusco. We made it on the third day and stayed just one night. We intended to acclimate to the elevation for a few days until we went up to Machu Pichu — a little bit higher. We ended up being at this place about 12 hours instead of three nights. It was a simple hotel close to the town square and the train station. Convenient enough. Helpful front desk!

Costa del Sol Wyndham Lima Airport — Lima

We spent several nights October 5, 6, 7 and 19, 2023 in double rooms $170 /night including breakfast. From here we flew to Cusco and also stayed the night before leaving Peru. The extra nights were due to weather and mechanical plane issues that caused a couple of cancellations. Right-sized airport hotel within a two minute walking distance to the terminal. Convenient, comfortable and a great staff and great restaurant.

Aldea Kite Club - Paracas

We were here September 25 to October 5, 2023 in an apartment with sea view for $123/night. We arrived in Peru and toured Lima but then planned to come here and rest and recover from our busy recent time in Turkey. What a unique environment surrounded by sand and not many people around. We had a great outdoor space and lots of fresh air. Very restful!

Casa Republica Barranco Boutique Hotel - Barranco, Lima

We stayed September 21-25, 2023 in a superior double room with garden view for $158/night including breakfast. Great choice and nice neighborhood. Wonderful, friendly staff. Beautiful old hotel with nice art and great rooftop bar. We had a large room with sitting area with nice boutique touches. Room could use more art and decoration. Fantastic breakfast. No complaints. Uber everywhere. Activity recommendations: Larco museum, Larcomar mall, Lima Museum of Contemporary Art, National Museum of the Archeology, Anthropology and History of Peru [limited access when we were there due to remodeling but still worth it.] Restaurant recommendations: Taj Mahal Indian (near Miraflores Indian market), Master Kong Chinese (near National Museum and Larco Museum), La Bodega de la Trattoria - Armendariz Italian (near Larcomar mall).
