Aquarius Gay Guesthouse — Pa Tong, Kathu District, Phuket, Thailand

We were here February 1-7, 2025 (penthouse apartment, $112/night with breakfast). Patong is a playground for the id. We were there six nights. We had fun, but like USA’s Las Vegas, it is probably best to leave after three nights. We met some great fellow travelers at Aquarius. Paul got his second, and final, dengue fever vaccination shot at the medical clinic across the street.

Baan Penny — Ayutthaya, Thailand

We were here January 18-20, 2025 (king balcony room, $41/night with breakfast). It’s possible to to do a long day trip from Bangkok to see the ancient city ruins of Ayutthaya but we wanted to take our time. Two nights was fine. Baan Penny was in a great location and a good choice. Below the hotel pics are a few images of what we saw in the area.

Trinity Hotel — Silom, Bangkok, Thailand

We were here from January 9-18, 2025 ($59/night). We’ve reviewed it before with more pics, see Trinity Silom from 2022 visit. This is our super-affordable, go-to hotel for central Bangkok (where it’s easy to spend a lot more). Good location, quiet, and just good enough overall. Get the premier rooms and ask for a balcony. You have to make the reservation a bit in advance to get this rate. It will price out at about $70-75 if you wait until closer to your stay.

Dragonfly Naturist Village — Pattaya, Thailand

Astra Sky River Condo — Chiang Mai, Thailand

We were here October 30 - November 23, 2024 (small one bedroom apartment, $61/night). We were looking for a modern, comfortable and affordable apartment east-southeast of the old city. I guess we found it. Initially, not fully convinced but over our 24 nights here, we came to appreciate enough things about it that we very possibly will stay here again in October/November 2025. We might keep looking east of the east gate but north of Astra Sky River (but west of the river). For us, this is the sweet spot of Chiang Mai.
