Reflections on Brazil
It was every bit of the rich, saucy culture we thought it was! We visited Brazil from February 7-26, 2024.
As part of our Naturale Tour, we timed our first-ever visit to Brazil (February 7-26, 2024) during Mardi Gras as we didn’t want to miss out on the world famous annual festival! We chose Florianopolis, in the south, instead of the bigger Rio de Janeiro for the party. We were under the mistaken assumption that after Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, the party ends. It doesn’t! We moved on to Sao Paolo and just kept partying — or as much as we could endure given our ages! We chose just four destinations to get a flavor of the country and rounded out our visit in the culturally distinct port city of Salvador in the north and then dropped into the Brazil-side of Iguazu Falls to get wet.
Our warm and hearty encounters with Brazilians found us jotting down suggestions of little-known (to us) places to explore throughout the country. The language was only sometimes a barrier to dig a little deeper in these connections but between the Google translate app and many mutual good-cheered non-verbal exchanges we were thoroughly educated and enchanted. Every waiter was warm and happy to see us and every single Uber driver became our in-the-moment tour guide offering unsolicited suggestions to make sure we have a good time in their country. The men (and women) are oh so sexy! We can’t wait to go back and visit some of the recommended destinations! While not as inexpensive as Argentina it was worth it!
